Why the move to LiFePO4?

For decades, the leisure industry relied on lead-acid (AGM/Gel) technology. While cheap and predictable, they are fundamentally flawed for serious off-grid living. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) has changed the math.

The Depth of Discharge (DoD) Factor

A 100Ah AGM battery only gives you 50Ah of usable power before voltage drop affects performance and cycle life. A 100Ah Lithium battery gives you 90-95Ah. Effectively, you need half the physical footprint for the same usable power.

LiFePO4 vs The Rest

Safety is paramount when sleeping on top of 5kWh of stored energy. Unlike Cobalt-based lithium in your phone, LiFePO4 is thermally stable. It does not suffer from thermal runaway.

The Brain: The BMS

A lithium battery without a Battery Management System (BMS) is a bomb. The BMS monitors cell balance, over-voltage, and most importantly: low-temperature charging protection.

CRITICAL WARNINGNever charge LiFePO4 batteries below 0°C. Doing so causes permanent lithium plating and destroys the battery. Ensure your chosen battery has a BMS with low-temp cutoff.
